Joel Zimmerman, Director of the Northwood Institute of Taxidermy, Inc., is a Master Taxidermist who has won numerous awards at both state and national competitions. He has been invited to judge state competitions and teach seminars, and is a well respected authority on taxidermy worldwide. His work has appeared on the cover of Taxidermy Today, one of the most prestigious magazines in the world of taxidermy.

Joel graduated from the American Institute of Taxidermy in Janesville, Wisconsin. After many years of practice and teaching in the industry, he went on to establish the Northwood School of Taxidermy, Inc. in October of 1990. In 2007, Northwood Institute of Taxidermy, Inc. was established, and a school facility with housing was set up at a new location.
